If you are interested to work as Signalling Engineer for our Melbourne office.
Key Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities
- You will primarily design, check, and mentor, and for projects, lead the design and checking of all aspects of vital and non-vital railway signalling systems in accordance with the respective Authorized Rail Operator’s/Client requirements and specifications.
- You will carry out allocated Signalling design work and report the progress to the Engineering Manager/Project Manager, such as Design Engineering, analysis, and evaluation of all signalling related customer requirements and preparing or checking the design with appropriate solutions.
- You understand comprehensively the signalling system requirements and scope of work.
- Perform Principal Design engineer tasks under supervision from the Principal engineer/work package lead.
- Prepare or review other related documentation such as Concept Designs, Signalling Integration and interface Plans, Functional Specification, and Design Management plan.
- Prepare or review the design with appropriate solutions to satisfy the customer specifications such as signalling arrangement plans, power calculations, headway signal spacing calculations, circuit designs, interlocking data, etc.
- 4+ years of validated Rail Signalling Design experience.
- Experience in Interlocking Systems, Train Control Systems (ETCS, CBTC or PTC, etc), and Railway Systems.
- Tertiary education in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or other relevant engineering fields.
- MTM, V/Line, ARTC, and/or QR competencies (if available)

Key Accountabilities
- Manage all aspects of allocated signalling projects in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and contractors to progress projects from design, construction, testing and commissioning through handover into operations & maintenance.
- Lead the detailed planning for specific Rail Systems activities, as assigned by the Project Manager (or Construction Manager)
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols on site including Rail Safety standards, legislative and regulatory requirements
- Manage the administration and control of Contract Instructions, in conjunction with the Design or Construction or Project Manager, ensuring that any change of scope, direction to proceed, site instruction etc, is given to the Contractor(s) in writing and correctly documented
- Manage the receipt of Rail Systems design information and drawings, including ensuring that a current drawing register is maintained, and that the documentation is issued to all the relevant parties.
- Manage the handover process at project completion ensuring that all the key stakeholders are involved, and that project documentation is completed in accordance with procedures
- Undertake assigned work duties to ensure their completion on time, within budget, with all project risks mitigated and effect on train operations whilst ensuring that construction standards are maintained and conform to safety, reliability, and quality
- Assist the Project Manager with the submission of the Project Monthly Report in UGL management system and development of reports and associated tools to identify and correct problem areas
- Ensure all design deliverables and site installations meet all quality standards and procedures
- Identify work practices, methods and activities that can be altered or improved
